Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center is at 3510 S Mullen St, Tacoma, WA 98409. The phone number is 253-502-2100. It is open daily from 8:00am to 5:30pm and closed on July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The details here were last verified July 15, 2026 from Tacoma sources listed below.

Quick facts before you go

  • Bring proof of Tacoma residency if you expect the Tacoma resident residential self-haul rate.
  • Tacoma resident residential self-haul is $20 through 400 pounds.
  • For Tacoma residents, each additional 100 pounds is $7.25 after the first 400 pounds.
  • Outside Tacoma, the published rate is $8.50 per 100 pounds with a $40 minimum charge.

Published rate table in plain language

Tacoma published self-haul rates, last verified July 15, 2026
Customer typePublished rate
Tacoma resident, through 400 lb$20
Tacoma resident, over 400 lb$7.25 per additional 100 lb
Outside Tacoma$8.50 per 100 lb; $40 minimum

Residency and rate reminders

The Tacoma resident rate requires proof of Tacoma residency. If you live outside Tacoma, plan on the outside-Tacoma rate. Do not count on a resident rate without the required proof, and check the official city pages before a holiday or an unusual trip.

The posted facility rate is a disposal charge for a self-haul load. It does not turn a load into a full-service removal job. Your own time, loading, securing the vehicle, driving, and unloading still matter. A Top Tier quote covers a different scope when it includes labor and hauling, so it should not be treated as a dollar-for-dollar replacement for the transfer-center fee. Self-haul can be practical for a small, manageable load; a crew can be the simpler option for heavy items, stairs, a cleanout, or a pile that would take more than one trip.

Safe prep checklist

  1. Check the hours and holiday closures before loading the vehicle.
  2. Bring proof of Tacoma residency if you are using the resident self-haul rate.
  3. Sort and secure the load so nothing shifts while driving.
  4. Wear gloves and closed-toe shoes, and do not lift a bulky or awkward item by yourself.
  5. Choose a crew quote if the load involves stairs, a long carry, heavy furniture, or more work than you can safely unload.

When Top Tier can help

Tacoma junk removal is for a pile you want loaded and hauled. Cleanouts fit homes, garages, storage spaces, and other jobs that need sorting as well as removal. Moving services help when you are relocating and want unwanted items removed along the way. Labor-only service works when you have a truck, container, or trailer but need experienced hands for the loading.

Use photos for a real comparison

Send photos of the pile, stairs, parking, and the path to the truck. We can quote the actual work instead of guessing from a published transfer-station fee.
