Mattress Disposal in Tacoma, WA
Mattress and box spring disposal across the South Sound. Single items or volume pickup, all sizes.
Tacoma mattress disposal volume is one of the highest in our service area. The mix of older single-family homes in the North End, rental turnover in Hilltop, and estate cleanouts in South Tacoma all generate steady mattress pickup demand. We base out of Sumner — about 15 minutes south of Tacoma — which means we can often hit Tacoma mattress jobs same-day, even on short notice.
What is included
- Pickup from inside the home (no need to drag it to the curb)
- All sizes: twin, full, queen, king, California king
- Box springs included with mattress pickup at the same rate
- Transfer-station disposal fee included in the quote
- Same-week scheduling, same-day when available
Mattress disposal pricing
Per-item rates. Stacking multiple mattresses brings the per-item rate down.
Tacoma residential pickups stay solidly in the standard pricing band with no access surcharges. Volume jobs (rental turnover, estate cleanouts with multiple mattresses) drop the per-mattress rate substantially. Pricing reflects the per-item disposal fee (around $30 each) plus crew labor, fuel, and transport. No surprise fees at the door.
Why mattress disposal costs more than expected
Most people are surprised that mattress disposal is not free. The reason: the regional transfer station charges a separate per-item fee for mattresses (about $30 each in 2026) because mattresses are difficult to recycle and take significant landfill space. That fee is built into our pricing — there is no surprise charge at the door.
What we take
- All sizes from twin to California king
- Memory foam, innerspring, hybrid, latex — every mattress type
- Box springs and bed frames at the same visit
- Mattress toppers and pads
- Crib mattresses and youth-bed mattresses
What we cannot accept
Two situations require special handling: mattresses with bedbug infestation (we can still take them, but they require sealed wrapping and a separate disposal route — let us know in advance), and water beds (we need to coordinate the draining before pickup). For both, just mention it when you book.
Donation when possible
When a mattress is in good condition (less than 5 years old, no stains, no damage), we route it to a donation partner instead of the landfill. This is the exception rather than the rule — most used mattresses do not qualify due to health regulations. We will tell you up front if yours is donatable and adjust the quote accordingly.
How to prepare
- Strip the bedding before we arrive — saves crew time
- Wrap the mattress in a mattress bag if you have one (helps with bedbug prevention during transport)
- Make sure the path from the bedroom to the door is clear
- If the mattress is upstairs, let us know in advance so we send the right crew
FAQ
- How fast can you pick up a mattress in Tacoma?
- Same-day common across Tacoma if booked before noon. Sumner-based crew means Tacoma is one of the fastest cities to schedule. Hilltop, North End, South Tacoma all routine.
- Do you handle estate-volume mattress disposal?
- Yes. Multi-mattress jobs (4+ from a rental property, hotel, or estate) drop to $55-75 per mattress. We coordinate the truck size and crew accordingly.
- Why does mattress disposal cost so much?
- The transfer station charges a separate per-item fee (around $30 per mattress) plus our crew time and fuel. That fee is non-negotiable but built into the quote — no surprises at the door.
- Can you take a mattress with bedbugs?
- Yes. We will need to seal it for transport and route it to a separate disposal stream. Just mention it when booking so we send the right wrapping.
- Will you donate the mattress?
- Sometimes. If the mattress is less than 5 years old with no stains or damage, donation centers may accept it. We check first and route accordingly. Most used mattresses do not qualify due to health regulations.
- Do you charge extra for box springs?
- No. Box springs come along with the mattress at the same visit for a small additional rate (usually about $40 added to the mattress price).
